If the party was friend-oriented, ask her to see about getting sales from her family. If it was family-oriented, see if she can get orders from her friends.

Have the hostess ask for pre-orders from any of their friends who will not be able to make it to the party. It is highly desirable to already have some sales before the party takes place.

Treating your hostess well will allow others to see that you take good care of hosts so that they too would want to host a show and also reduce the chance of your home party plan shows canceling.

If you are a direct sales leader who conducts conference calls you may have to consider the switch more carefully.

The only way that I would NOT recommend the service is if you are conducting (you are the organizer) of conference calls. Find Sales Home Party – Bookings Leads At Quarter Auction

A quarter auction is a lead generation system for direct sales consultants that is very effective. The quarter auction has been around for a while and seem to becoming more and more popular in this area. (Pennsylvania and Maryland) Actually, they are almost a fad here and are even turning into competitions of who has the best quarter auction. The excitement and volume of people in the room makes a quarter auction an excellent lead generation system. I got an email this week from someone in the Midwest asking what a quarter auction is so I guess it is not the rage everywhere.

What Is A Quarter Auction?

A Quarter Auction is sort of like bingo. A group of sales consultants get together and form a quarter auction group. The group works together to fill a room on a specific night. Usually quarter auctions take place on a monthly or every-other month basis. Each consultant invites their database to the events and also donates a certain number of products to the auction. Guest come in and pay an entry fee. They get a paddle with a number on it. If they want more than one number then they pay extra. During the auction the auctioneer, one of the sales reps, holds up a product and people bid a quarter on it. More expensive product may require a bid of 3-4 quarters You do not have to bid on a product if you do not want it. The auctioneer pulls a ping-pong ball out of a bin with a number on it and if your paddle has that number and you put a quarter in the bidding, then you win the product. If your number comes up and you did not bid, then you do not get it. They draw another number until someone who placed a quarter in the bidding comes up.

Excitement = More Bookings

Sales is about connections. When people are emotionally involved they are more willing to buy, book a show, or join your opportunity. The emotional excitement of a quarter auction creates some sales but more bookings. The consultants I have chatted about their quarter auction experiences said they have definitely been a good thing for their business. They have found plenty of bookings and have also signed sales reps. Generally, on the financial level they break even in costs for the evening. Each sales rep has a display table around the room. Guests eat, laugh, spend money, buy product and have fun and book shows. I have only been to one quarter auction in my life. I was amazed at the amount of money that was being spent. The tempo and excitement level was a surprise. If you are looking for a creative way to find leads and bookings as well as and network with other consultants, this is a great way to do it. It is amazing to me how many sales consultants give me catalogs or flyers without their name on the literature. Being prepared to do business and having all your materials necessary to do exactly that are basic principles of success in direct sales or network marketing. The shelf life of a direct sales catalog is months if not years. Frequently that book that you may have given out at the grocery store or to a friend gets passed on through many hands. If you tape your business card onto it or staple on a piece of paper with your contact info, it is sure to get ripped off. Once I asked a rep why she did not put her name on the catalog she had just given me. She said that she usually does but that I know how to reach her. Well, that is not good enough. What if I give it away or pass it on or save it for three years and want to find her again? Part of being prepared to do business is having your contact information on every single piece of material. Did you ever get a sale flier from the grocery store or local retail store without the address and phone? I doubt it!

ABCs Of Selling

As a college education becomes more and more important for success, it also becomes more and more expensive. It can be live shows, catalog shows or just individual orders. Men are a terrific market because they are not afraid to spend money on the women they love, whether it is their wives, girlfriends, mothers, grandmothers, daughters, or all of the above.

Direct Sales Gift Wrapping Service

A nice service or perk would be to provide a gift-wrapping service, although this is not necessary. It only works well if you do not have to run all over town to deliver products. Men love the service of getting a nicely wrapped gift for their girl! My UPS man comes here every year for his wife’s birthday and Christmas gifts.

Home Parties For Men

You could have a football party, or basketball show, or some other type of male gathering show. I have had great success with this type of show. Pick a show date that coincides with a sports event that the men are already gathering together for. Then, you should distribute lots of catalogs ahead of time. In advance of the show the host will need a catalog for each guy coming to the show, plus some for friends not coming as well. Host coach him to have the guys circulate the catalogs around among the women in their lives before the show. The women can then mark down their choices. You show up on the appointed day and gather up the orders. Sometimes it is effective to ask if the guys want to see anything special that their wives or Moms may have marked off. Most of the time an actual show is not necessary at all.(I do prepare a quick snack for them.)

Catalog Shows Boost Holiday Party Sales

A men’s catalog show is another terrific way to boost your sales. I have found that frequently this is a last-minute order in December. Sometimes the gifts got to them just the day before Christmas, but that was cool. There is nothing wrong with some “gravy” for the holiday commission check. Catalog shows are gravy, you know!! The gift-wrapping service is usually appreciated here if you can have the products delivered to you for wrapping, then you can deliver them to the host.

I have always liked this one. Just invite some last-minute male shoppers over to your house to shop from your inventory of product that you earned or accumulated and stored in your basement. It is strictly cash-and-carry shopping. Wrap it on the spot and send them off happy.

The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss is a cool book. I recently heard that it is an education in environmental awareness so I sought it out as a holiday gift for my niece.

The story is Dr. Seuss. Actually, when I was buying it the sales lady said that when she was a kid her Mom would not let her read Dr. Seuss as it was perceived that the man was on acid. Interesting!? I never really thought about it that way. Anyway, typical Dr. Seuss with funny colorful pictures and twisted words and sentences.

The street of the Lifted Lorax "where the wind smells slow and sour" was once a thriving center of commerce. The Truffulla Trees, Swomee-Swans and Humming Fish prospered there until the Oncelers built a small shop and started harvesting the trees and shipping them out to big factories. The rest of the story is obvious.

As the Onceler Shop and factories got bigger the Lorax begged the Onceler's to slow down and not be so aggressive in there harvesting. All was ruined in the end when the Truffulla Trees were gone and the Swomee-Swans water was polluted and the Hummer Fish all died.

Read To Children

It was a sad story that any 5 year old can relate to. I found it to be an awesome tool to teach the children some basic facts that will effect their future. I do not have an opinion about whether Dr. Seuss was on acid. I do however recommend The Lorax to anyone who read to their children.

Elementary School Assembly

The school assembly, Debbie Banana and The Mad Scientist makes a huge impact on elementary school age kids. This fun, interactive assembly teaches the kids the difference between whole and processed foods. They learn what is really in that box of macaroni and cheese. When they leave the assembly and impact has been made that will affect their future.

Kids Learn

Debbie Banana, played by me, with the help of Bobbie Banana, teaches the kids grades kindergarten thought 8th grade the importance of eating 5 -9 fruits and vegetables a day. Then, the Mad Scientist, also played by me, shows them in an way that has a big impact what they are eating when they eat a box of that macaroni and cheese.

Kids Have Fun

All ages enjoy the assembly and have terrific fun. They leave with a better understanding on how the food they eat impacts their future health. This is not your typical boring school assembly. The kids will remember Debbie Banana and The Mad Scientist for the rest of their life.
